Worship Arts Ministry

Since the church began, Christians have been a singing people, using music as a means to express their worship. Words are often inadequate to express the deep love, thanksgiving, and praise we wish to offer to the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God has given us music and the arts as a gift so that we may more fully worship God together, and reach out to the world around us in a creative and dynamic way.

The following Scripture is useful in describing the philosophy of the Worship Arts Ministry at First Baptist Carrollton:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:16-17(NIV)

In light of these verses:

• Our Worship Arts ministry is Word and Christ focused – we seek expressions that lift up the truth of Scripture and exalt Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
• We sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. We value a diversity of musical styles and expressions in worship and in the events we plan and present.
• We seek, in all we do, to honor Christ and serve Him, one another, and our community with grateful hearts before God. Because we represent Christ, we strive for excellence in all we do.

The Worship Arts ministry is unique because we seek to match up a person’s God-given abilities in music, drama, visual arts, and media with their passion and sense of calling to worship God and to serve others. We are unique within the community because our arts ministry is focused on Jesus Christ and the Gospel, and we enjoy a strong level of support from the church that enables us to engage in experiences that are spiritually fulfilling as well as artistically excellent.
